Hireoo vs Naukri: Job Board vs AI Job Agent (Use Both, Here's How)
Naukri is India's largest job board: huge listing volume, recruiter search, alerts and company pages. Hireoo is an AI job agent: it finds fresh hiring posts, explains why each fits you, writes a cover letter for it and emails the hiring contact from your own Gmail after you review it. They do different jobs, and the best routine uses both. This page explains what Naukri does well, what it cannot do, what its paid services offer in plain terms, and how Hireoo complements it.

The short answer
This is not a replacement question. Naukri is a job board, and the largest one in India. Hireoo is an AI job agent. The board is where listings and recruiter searches live; the agent is what turns a hiring post into a tailored application that a person reads.
Use Naukri to be findable and to see what is listed. Use Hireoo to get a cover letter written for a specific role into the hiring contact's inbox, from your own Gmail, without filling a form. The sections below explain what each does well, what Naukri's paid services are in plain terms, and a weekly routine that uses both.
What Naukri is good at
- Volume. Naukri carries more Indian listings than any other board, across IT, non-IT, fresher and senior roles, in every city. If a company advertises a role in India, there is a good chance it is listed there.
- Recruiter search. Recruiters pay Naukri to search its résumé database. A complete, recently updated profile with the right headline and key skills gets you found without applying to anything. This is the single most valuable thing Naukri does for a job seeker, and it is free.
- Alerts and saved searches. Daily emails and app notifications for your keywords and cities, which are useful for spotting walk-ins and fresher drives early.
- Company pages and fresher hubs. Company microsites, Naukri Campus and FirstNaukri for off-campus drives and fresher guidance, and the Naukri 360 free résumé templates.
- Trust at the recruiter's end. Recruiters already live in Naukri's dashboard. An application there is in a format they process every day.
What Naukri cannot do
- It does not write your application. A listing on a board receives a profile and a résumé. It does not receive a cover letter written for that job, and most listings have no field for one.
- It does not put you in front of a person. You apply into a queue. The recruiter opens that queue when they open it, alongside every other applicant.
- It does not tell you why you fit. Skill-match ticks are not the same as a reviewer explaining which of your projects answers the job description and which gaps to address.
- It does not reach roles that are not listed. Many hiring posts in India appear as a founder's post, a team lead's message or a company page update with a contact email, not as a board listing.
- It cannot be automated safely. Naukri's terms are written against bots. Third-party "Naukri auto apply" tools exist, but they run on your login and accounts have been restricted. See what auto apply means and the risks.
Naukri's paid services, in neutral terms
Naukri sells optional services to job seekers. Names and bundles change, so this is a description of the categories rather than a price list; the current offers are on naukri.com.
- Résumé writing. A professional writer prepares your résumé, usually with a few revision rounds. Useful if you have never had a résumé reviewed by anyone; it does not tailor the résumé to each job you apply to.
- Profile highlighting. Your profile is marked or ranked higher in recruiter search results for a period. This buys visibility in the database search, which is Naukri's real strength.
- Application tagging. A paid tag that marks your application as a priority applicant in a recruiter's list. It changes your position in a queue; it does not change what the recruiter reads.
- Naukri Pro and the AI résumé maker. In November 2025 Naukri launched an AI résumé maker that imports your Naukri profile into formats described as ATS-optimised, and a Naukri Pro bundle described as including profile enhancement, job invitations, AI mock interviews and skills insights (ANI press release).
A fair summary: Naukri's paid services help you be seen inside Naukri. They do not help you apply outside it.
What Hireoo does differently
Hireoo is used through a chat. You type the job you want in a sentence, in English or Hinglish. It finds fresh hiring posts and shows each with a fit percentage and the reasons behind it. For every result you approve, it writes a cover letter for that specific job and emails it, with your résumé, to the hiring contact from your own Gmail. The Gmail access is send-only; it never reads your inbox. You review each email first, or let it auto-apply to the results you pick.
What it does not do matters just as much. Hireoo does not log in to any portal, does not fill portal forms, and does not publish where its hiring posts originate. It does not track replies or send follow-ups; replies land in your Gmail and you answer from there. It does not promise interviews.

A weekly routine that uses both
Monday, 20 minutes. Update your Naukri profile: headline, key skills, current location and notice period. Recruiter search ranks fresh profiles higher, and this is free. Run the free ATS résumé checker once a month and fix what it flags before you upload the new version.
Every morning, 10 minutes. Read your Naukri alerts. Apply by hand to the listings you genuinely want. If a listing or company page shows a contact email, note it.
Every morning, 10 more minutes. Open the Hireoo chat and review the day's results. Read the fit reasons, drop the weak ones, and approve the emails you want sent. On Starter that is up to 10 job results a day; on Pro, 25.
Friday, 15 minutes. Go through your Gmail for replies and send follow-ups yourself; the apply-to-HR email guide has templates. Keep a one-page list of companies contacted this week so you never send a portal application and an email to the same recruiter on the same day.
Freshers who read Hinglish can also use the guide to applying for jobs through Naukri for the profile and application steps.
When to lean on which
Lean on Naukri when the companies you want are large, hire through listings, and have recruiters who search the database. Lean on Hireoo when the role you want was posted by a person with a contact address, when you want the recruiter to read something written for that job, and when you are searching from a phone with limited time. If a third-party portal bot tempts you, read Hireoo vs ApplyCove and Hireoo vs myjobb first; both explain the login and terms-of-service trade-offs.
Where Hireoo fits
Hireoo is the application layer, not another board. It is for job seekers in India who want a tailored cover letter in the hiring contact's inbox, sent from their own Gmail, with the fit reasons shown first and no portal login shared. Keep your board profile alive for recruiter search; let Hireoo handle the writing and sending for the roles you actually want. Starter is ₹0 with 10 job results a day; the weekly Pro pass is ₹149 (₹99 until 31 December 2026) with no auto-renew. Create your free account and type the job you want.
