Tell Me About Yourself: Fresher Ke Liye 10 Sample Answers (English + Hinglish Tips)

"Tell me about yourself" interview ka pehla sawaal hota hai, aur zyadatar freshers yahin par ya to 10 second me khatam ho jaate hain ("Myself Rahul, I am from Kanpur, I have done B.Com") ya 4 minute tak apni life story sunate hain. Dono galat.

• Resume mat dohraayein. Interviewer ke haath me resume hai. Aap woh bolein jo resume me nahi dikhta — kyun, kaise.
• Personal details nahi. Father's name, siblings, hobbies (jab tak poochha na jaye), caste, religion — kuch nahi.
• Job ke hisaab se badlein. Part 3 aur 4 har interview me alag honge. Posting padhein, 2 keywords uthayein.

Ab 10 samples. Har ek 60–90 words ka hai — bolne me lagbhag ek minute. Naam, city aur details apni laga lein; structure wahi rakhein.

Sample 1 — BTech (CSE) fresher, software developer role

I'm Aman, a 2026 Computer Science graduate from a college in Jaipur. During my final year I built a food-ordering web app using React and Node.js as my major project, and I did a two-month internship at a Jaipur startup where I fixed bugs in their Django backend. I enjoy solving problems step by step, and I'm comfortable with Git and basic SQL. I'm looking for a junior developer role where I can learn from a team and contribute to real products from day one.

Coaching note: Project ka naam aur tech stack bolna zaroori hai — "I did a project" kaafi nahi. Interviewer aage project ke baare me poochhega, to woh project chunein jo aapne sach me banaya ho aur samjha sakein.

Sample 2 — BCom fresher, accounts / finance

I'm Priya, a B.Com graduate from Lucknow University, batch of 2026. Accounts was my favourite subject, so in my final year I did a three-month internship at a CA firm where I handled Tally entries, bank reconciliation and GST return data for small businesses. I'm comfortable with Excel, especially VLOOKUP and pivot tables, and I'm careful with numbers — I'd rather check twice than correct later. I'm looking for a junior accountant role where I can start with day-to-day bookkeeping and grow into finance work.

Coaching note: "Careful with numbers" jaisi ek personality line accounts ke liye kaam karti hai, kyunki accuracy hi is job ki pehli requirement hai. Tool ke naam (Tally, Excel) zaroor lein.

Sample 3 — BPO / customer support

Coaching note: BPO interview me interviewer aapki English fluency aur calmness dekh raha hai, content kam. Isliye dheere, saaf bolein. "Rotational shifts" pehle hi bol dena ek plus hai — unka agla sawaal yahi hota.

Sample 4 — Sales / business development

I'm Neha, a 2026 BBA graduate from Indore. In college I was the sponsorship head for our annual fest, where my team and I brought in eleven local sponsors by visiting shops and pitching face to face. I also did a two-month internship with an insurance agency doing tele-calling, which taught me how to handle a 'no' without losing energy. I like talking to people and I'm target-driven. Coaching note: Sales me number bolna sabse zaroori hai — "eleven sponsors", "40 calls a day". Aur energy — yeh jawab muskurate hue, thoda tez bolein. Sales interviewer confidence dekh raha hai.

I'm Sandeep, a B.Sc. Statistics graduate from Pune, batch of 2026. Coaching note: MBA freshers ki sabse badi galti — "strategic", "leadership", "synergy" jaise bade words. Interviewer ne yeh 50 baar suna hai. Chhota, concrete kaam bolein — "forty retailers started using" bade words se zyada impress karta hai.

Sample 8 — Diploma / ITI, technician

Coaching note: Gap ko chhupaayein nahi, ek line me bolein aur aage badhein — "family responsibility", "health", "preparing for exams" kaafi hai, detail nahi. Sabse important: gap me kya seekha, aur "fully available now". Interviewer ka darr bas yeh hota hai ki aap phir chhod denge; usi ka jawab dein.

Sample 10 — No experience at all (12th pass / any graduate)

I'm Vikas, I passed my 12th from a government school in Bareilly last year with Commerce. I haven't worked in an office before, but I've been helping at my father's kirana shop since school — billing, stock counting and dealing with customers every day. I've also done a basic computer course, so I'm comfortable with typing, Excel and email. I'm punctual, I learn fast, and I'm not afraid of hard work. I'm looking for a back office or data entry role where I can start my career.

Coaching note: "No experience" ka matlab "kuch nahi kiya" nahi hota. Dukaan, kheti, ghar ka hisaab, college fest, NCC, kisi relative ke office me help — sab experience hai agar aap usse job ki skill se jod dein. "I'm punctual, I learn fast" bolein, lekin uske baad ek proof ho.

Galtiyan jo freshers "tell me about yourself" me karte hain

• "Myself Rahul" — galat English hai. "I'm Rahul" ya "My name is Rahul" bolein.
• Family details — "My father is a farmer, my mother is a housewife, I have two sisters." Interviewer ne yeh nahi poochha.
• Resume ratt kar sunana — 10th 78%, 12th 81%, graduation 7.2 CGPA. Yeh sab resume me hai.
• Hobbies se shuru karna — "I like cricket and listening to music." Last me bhi mat bolein jab tak poochha na jaye.
• 4 minute ka jawab — 90 second ke baad interviewer ka dhyan chala jaata hai.
• Ek hi jawab har interview me — sales interview me "I'm detail-oriented" aur accounts interview me "I love talking to people" — mismatch pakda jaata hai.
• Jhooth — jo skill bolenge, uspar agla sawaal aayega. Jo nahi aata, woh mat bolein.
• Weakness yahin bata dena — "I'm a fresher so I don't have much experience" — yeh line hata dein; interviewer ko pata hai aap fresher hain.

Hinglish me jawab dein ya English me?

Simple rule: jis bhasha me interviewer ne sawaal poochha, usi me jawab dein. Corporate, IT, BPO, MNC — English. Local business, factory, retail, kuch sales roles — interviewer aksar Hindi ya Hinglish me baat karta hai; wahan English thopne ki zaroorat nahi, aur natural Hinglish me confident jawab tooti-phooti English se behtar hai.

Agar English me confidence kam hai: upar ke sample ko ratt kar nahi, samajh kar bolein. 10 baar bolne ke baad woh apna lagne lagta hai. Aur chhote sentences — "I did X. I learned Y. I want Z." — lambe sentence me atakne se accha hai.

Bank interview ya government-type panel me bhi yahi formula chalta hai; bas Part 4 me "why banking" ka ek seedha reason jodein — jaise "I want a stable role where accuracy and customer handling both matter."

3 din ka practise plan

• Din 1 — likhein: 4-part formula se apna jawab likhein, 80 words ke andar. Upar ka sabse paas wala sample lein aur apni details daalein. Phone me save karein.
• Din 2 — record karein: Phone par video banayein aur khud dekhein. Jahan "umm", "basically", "actually" aa raha hai, woh line simple karein. Time dekhein — 60 se 90 second.
• Din 3 — kisi ko sunayein: Dost ya ghar me kisi ko interviewer banayein. Woh "tell me about yourself" poochhe, aap jawab dein, phir woh ek follow-up poochhe (project ke baare me, gap ke baare me). Yahi asli interview hai.

Interview se pehle: posting dobara padhein, Part 3 aur 4 ko us job ke hisaab se badlein.
